Jesus was active and present in the Old Testament as the divine angel long before His birth in Bethlehem. The Transfiguration recorded in the Gospels provides compelling evidence of Jesus' divine nature, showing His supernatural form that paralleled how divine beings appeared throughout scripture. The cloud, the voice from heaven, and the disciples' terrified reaction all connect to Old Testament theophanies, deliberately identifying Jesus as the divine angel who appeared throughout earlier scripture.Daniel's vision of a magnificent being with a face like lightning and eyes like flaming torches bears striking similarities to John's vision of the risen Christ in Revelation. Both prophets fell on their faces in response, suggesting they encountered the same divine person. Arguments against this interpretation fall short when we consider the relationship within the Trinity. Before incarnation, Jesus appeared as the divine angel; during His earthly ministry, He was made lower than angels; after resurrection, He returned to His glory with even greater splendor. Understanding Jesus' presence throughout scripture protects against theological errors like modalism and reveals the beautiful continuity of God's redemptive plan. This perspective transforms Bible reading, helping us trace Jesus' active presence from creation onward.
